Jagjit Singh -The Gazal Maestro Of Indian Music


Today we are suffering big loss to our music culture & music industry.The Gazal Samrat 'Jagjit Singh' passed away due to brain haemorrhage early morning today at 8.10 am in Lilavati Hospital of mumbai.He is survived by only wife. Whole music industry & people who loves to listen Gazals mourning over the death of Gazal maestro.
                    Jagjit Singh was born on February 8, 1941in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He had four sisters and two brothers and he is known as Jeet by his family.He has sung many songs & gazals for bollywood music & non filmi Gazals.He sungs in Hindi,Urdu,Punjabi & Nepali languages.He was the winner of Padma Bhushan for his contribution in Indian Music.He with his wife chitra who is also a Gazal singer recorded as most successful duo of husband-wife in 1970's to 1980's. He made people to listen Gazals as his voice & its expressions used to engross people. Jagjjit Singh has also sung for popular movies like Arth, Prem Geet, Sarfarosh and Tarqeeb. Jagjit Singh was the first Indian composer, and together with his wife Chitra Singh the first recording artist in the history of Indian music to use digital multi-track recording for their album, Beyond Time (1987) , that was India's first Digitally Recorded Album. On May 10, 2007, in a milestone joint session held in the historic Central Hall of India's Parliament (Sansad Bhawan), Jagjit Singh sung "Lagta nahin hai dil mera" , famous ghazal of the last Moghul Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar's to commemorate the 150th anniversary of India's First War of Independence that is 1857.He has given the modern face to Indian Gazals.
                     Jagjit Singh will always be remebered by indians for his immortal Gazals.It is really difficult to fill his place in Indian Music.May god give immortal peace to his soul.

Lata Mangeshkar : The most revered singer of india

Today is 28th September ,the first day of  Navratri's nine day festival of India.The same day Indian Music had given birth to the most eminent & revered personality of Lata Mangeshkar.We refers her as Gankokila or Gansamradyni or Cuckoo of India. In 1929,on same day india's most lovable personality born in family of Dinanath Mangeshkar.She was the eldest of all her 3 sisters & 1 brother.Meena,Asha,Usha & Hridaynath are the siblings of Lata Didi.Father Pt.Dinanath was a theater artist who used to make play's in Marathi. Lata didi first acted in his musical play & her named had changed from Hema to Lata of  the one of character from play.His father was from Goa & her mother who was second wife of Dinanath Mangeshkar was from Thalner of Dhule district in Maharashtra.
                     She had started her singing career in 1942,she wanted not to sing for Bollywood Movies as her father wished of to. But,in early days of her young hood ,she lost father Pt.Dinanath Mageshkar ,being eldest among all she had to carry forward  family after father's death ,she resorted to Bollywood for singing in order to feed her family.She always wanted to learn Indian Classical Music which she had never managed to learn in her career. Didi has sung more than 10 thousands songs & worked with all musician & singers of her era, her name is recorded in Guinness Book Of World  Record for recording most number of songs.She has 62 years of singing career in which Didi sung 36 regional language songs.She has been awarded by BHARATRATNA award which is best & biggest civil award given by Government Of India for her contribution to Indian Music. The song sung by Didi on the eve of 15th August,1947 "Ae mere vatan ke logon " was alluring & touching one that made india's first prime minister cry.Didi has won many awards in her singing career like filmfares & more.Recently she has been awarded with 'Hridaynath Award' in honor of his younger brother who is the best well known Music Composer in Marathi Music Industry.


                     No indian whether he knows about Music would never forget Lata Didi's immortal voice & would always be thankful for her contribution for the country.We all indians are thankful of whole Mangeshkar family for their enormous contribution to Indian Music Culture.
